They have a distinctive white head and tail contrasting with a dark brown body and wings, hence the name "bald" eagle (which actually comes from the Old English word "balde," meaning white or white-headed).
Habitat: Bald eagles are found near large bodies of open water, such as lakes, rivers, and coastal areas. They prefer areas with abundant fish, their primary food source, but they also hunt small mammals and birds.
