 During pregnancy, it's crucial to get the right balance of vitamins and minerals to support both the mother's health and the baby's development. Here are some important vitamins for pregnancy:



  1. Folic Acid (Folate): Essential for the early development of the baby's neural tube, which eventually becomes the brain and spinal cord. It helps prevent neural tube defects.

  2. Iron: Needed to make hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen to other cells. Iron requirements increase during pregnancy to support the growing fetus and placenta, as well as the mother's increased blood volume.

  3. Calcium: Important for building strong bones and teeth in both the mother and the baby. If the mother's calcium intake is inadequate, the baby will draw calcium from the mother's bones, which can lead to bone density loss.

  4. Vitamin D: Works with calcium to help develop the baby's bones and teeth. It also supports the mother's bone health and may reduce the risk of preeclampsia.

  5. Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Particularly important for brain and eye development in the baby. Omega-3s, especially DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), are crucial during the third trimester when the baby's brain is growing rapidly.
